Day 1 – Madrid, Spain

Once we had been to our hotel, we walked to the metro and got a metro to ‘Sol’. We walked to Mercado de San Miguel. In the Mercado we got some salami, some sandwiches with cheese and ham, some cheese and ham croquettes and some other things. They were all really tasty.  Here is a picture of people in the market:

The market was cool

I might want to go back for lunch another day because they had lots and lots of yummy puddings and I haven’t had one yet!  Here is a picture of my Daddy’s favourite thing from the day:

Daddy really liked it

I also saw these and thought my Mummy would like them – but i certainly wouldn’t!

Hot chillies!

On the way to the park after, we saw lots of street performers, one was a dancing flapping pony. It was crazy. We also saw a Mickey and a Super Mario and a Minnie Mouse.

Silken Puerta America Hotel, Madrid – Spain

When we got to the hotel in Madrid by Taxi (the taxi driver spoke Spanish), we saw that the hotel was lots of random different colours.

The hotel had writing in all different languages on the outside walls. When we got into the hotel my Daddy asked where our room was in the hotel. While he was doing that I nibbled on a sweet I got out a bowl at reception. When I sucked on the sweet it got smaller and smaller and smaller until I could swallow it. Then we got to our bedrooms, we had our room that joined onto Mum and Dad’s. We had very comfy beds. I like the hotel. The shower is weird because it’s a funny shape and the water scooshes in weird places.

Later on, we went to the pool in the hotel. It was quite small. I had thought it might be outside on the roof as it was on the highest floor, floor 13, but it was inside. We played in the pool but it was freezing cold and I couldn’t really play properly because other people were in the pool too and that wasn’t very fun.

I will take some pictures of our room and add them here later.

My Holiday – On the plane! (Mr JTFUK)

This morning, I got woken up by my sister jumping on my head!  I got such a fright that I nearly had a heart attack!!!  It was very early (04:00) and Daddy had woken her up because we were going on HOLIDAY!!!  We are going to Madrid and Barcelona in Spain and lots of places in Italy.

I got dressed in my shorts and sandals and my cool shark top with braces on the sharks teeth.  Do you like it?

My cool shark t-shirt

After we were all dressed, we got picked up and taken to the airport by a man called Colin who had a cool car.

On Saturday we went to buy some food for the BBQ.  Our friend Neil was invited to come because the day after he was going on holiday and we wouldn’t see him.

When we came back from the shop we put the BBQ on.  The flames were really huge – I nearly got set on fire!  The wind was also blowing wildly.  Then we cooked the food which was delicious.  My sister had an ice lolly and I had an ice cream on a stick with chocolate around it.

We then cooked marshmallows on the BBQ which was really great fun!  I would like to do it again soon.

A night out at a Ceilidh!

Last night I went to ceilidh with my Dad, Mum, Aimee and my great-gran who had told us about it and bought the tickets!

It took a long time for everyone to arrive but a kind and old woman kept giving my sister and I some crisps in a bowl.  When we were walking to the ceilidh hall, it was raining heavily.  There were about 50 people there by the time everyone arrived.

My great gran knew lots of people in the band.  People in the band played an Accordion, some drums and the violin.  There were some huge speakers too which made everything sound a bit louder!

The Balgeddie Toll Tavern, Near Kinross – United Kingdom

My sister (the other JuniorTravelFreak) was taking part in a dance show so my dad said we could go out for tea.  We got in the car and he asked me to tell him which direction to go in!  We drove through Scotlandwell and then we saw the Balgeddie Toll Tavern.  Dad turned the car into the car park and took the last space!

When we got out of the car, I thought that the pub looked very old.  There were some people sitting outside eating and drinking but we decided to go inside.  We sat at a table and were then told to move to another table because someone else had booked.

The pub had lots of pretend candles all around and there were lots of wine glasses on the roof of the bar.  This made the pub feel old fashioned.

Tentsmuir Forest, St Andrews – United Kingdom

On Saturday I went to Tentsmure forest and beach.

It took along time in the car to get there, so, on the way I played with my big brother.  We played ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ and lots of other games.  It was fun!

When we finally got there, we were in a deep dark forest!  We walked for a very long time and then found a house that was used by fishermen in the olden days to keep their fish cool.

We kept walking and found an old trailer train – in the olden days it would have been on a track and people used it to shoot at during target practice!  It was really rusty – look at the picture I took:

Wok ‘n’ Spice, Glenrothes – United Kingdom

Last week on Sunday I went to Wok n Spice in Glenrothes.  I tasted lots of food.  I tasted Duck, Chicken Curry and Lemon Chicken. I also had some foods that I had already tasted.

My favourite food was the Banana Fritter for dessert.  I had two plates of food for the main course.

When we were leaving, there was a little market and there was lots of little toys. I got a little toy dragon – here is a photo of my dragon

Eagles in Budapest

Budapest is split by the river Danube.  On one side of the river is Buda and on the other side of the river is Pest.  I was walking from our hotel in Buda to Pest when I saw a man holding an eagle.  I gave him some money and he let me hold the bird.

It was funny because the bird tried to fly away and eat another bird!

Albertos, Dunfermline – United Kingdom

We went out for lunch today because I wanted to take my great-gran out for lunch. I went to Alberto’s in Dunfermline with my great-gran, my TravelFreak Mum & Dad and my JuniorTravelFreak sister.

When we first arrived I wondered where we were going to sit as there were lots and lots of tables. When we first went in a man asked how many of us there were and offered us a choice of two places to sit.

I liked being in the restaurant; it looked like a nice place to have a meal. The restaurant looked a little fancy as there were some candles that get lit up at night but because we were there at lunchtime, the candles were not lit.
