A trip to the Edinburgh Fringe!

Today I went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and watched 2 shows.

I got the train to Edinburgh with my sister from Markinch train station.  At the station I saw a huge vegetable which had a note on it saying it had been grown in Markinch and you should take it!  Here is a picture of me with it:

It was huge!

My Dad took 2 pictures close together and they look funny when they move.  What do you think:

Look at my face!

On the train I read a book to my sister.  It was ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.  We went to see the first show, which was about a missing goose and had a man dressed up as a woman.  I though the show was pretty good and quite funny.

After watching the show we went to a place called The Pleasance which had a big tent for kids.  I got to make my own T-shirt:

Day 3 – Madrid to Barcelona

Today we had breakfast at a small café.  I had a croissant, some Spanish omelette (although we asked for pancakes and cream which was on the menu!) and some small delicious cakes with chocolate and cream!  I was quite excited to have chocolate for breakfast!

We then left the hotel in a taxi and went to the main train station in Madrid which is called Puerta AtochaThe train station was very busy with lots of people and our train left from platform number 5.  Inside the train station there were some huge trees like a jungle – in the middle of the train station!  I thought this was strange.

Here is a picture of me in the station:

Me looking cool at the station

I thought the train was unusual because it looked a bit weird, with the front being carved diagonally into a shape.  Daddy says this is to help it go really fast – which it did – look at my picture:

Look how fast we were going!

It took nearly 3 hours to get to Barcelona so we played snap for a bit and then other card games.  The view from the window was cool – there were lots of mountains and trees – Daddy thinks we saw Olive trees and some ‘vines’ which are used to make wine!

Day 2 – A cable-car ride!

Today we went to a the Teléferico de Madrid which had a park at the top. To get to there, first we went on the underground train and then we got a cable car up a really steep hill.  It was quite high and the ride was fun but a bit scary!

When we got to the end, we saw a very nice view.

Here is a picture of my sister that I took at the top:

We had some food and fed the birds and I got to play in a soft-play which was fun.

Parque de Ritiro, Madrid – Spain

I went to the Parque de Retiro with my Mummy, Daddy and brother. In the park, we went on a rowing boat and Mummy and Daddy rowed it. I got a shot of paddling the boat. I got splashed by the water fountain and my brother got soaking. In the water there were big fish that jumped out of the water. My brother took his t shirt off and his t shirt got even more wet so we had to let it dry in the sun. The boat was good fun. After it, I got a Haribo lolly from the van.

This is a picture of me and my brother:

Mummy says: Parque de Retiro rowing boats EUR 5.80 each. There is a maximum of 4 people per boat and under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. Over 65s get concession.

Day 1 – Madrid, Spain

Once we had been to our hotel, we walked to the metro and got a metro to ‘Sol’. We walked to Mercado de San Miguel. In the Mercado we got some salami, some sandwiches with cheese and ham, some cheese and ham croquettes and some other things. They were all really tasty.  Here is a picture of people in the market:

The market was cool

I might want to go back for lunch another day because they had lots and lots of yummy puddings and I haven’t had one yet!  Here is a picture of my Daddy’s favourite thing from the day:

Daddy really liked it

I also saw these and thought my Mummy would like them – but i certainly wouldn’t!

Hot chillies!

On the way to the park after, we saw lots of street performers, one was a dancing flapping pony. It was crazy. We also saw a Mickey and a Super Mario and a Minnie Mouse.

Silken Puerta America Hotel, Madrid – Spain

When we got to the hotel in Madrid by Taxi (the taxi driver spoke Spanish), we saw that the hotel was lots of random different colours.

The hotel had writing in all different languages on the outside walls. When we got into the hotel my Daddy asked where our room was in the hotel. While he was doing that I nibbled on a sweet I got out a bowl at reception. When I sucked on the sweet it got smaller and smaller and smaller until I could swallow it. Then we got to our bedrooms, we had our room that joined onto Mum and Dad’s. We had very comfy beds. I like the hotel. The shower is weird because it’s a funny shape and the water scooshes in weird places.

Later on, we went to the pool in the hotel. It was quite small. I had thought it might be outside on the roof as it was on the highest floor, floor 13, but it was inside. We played in the pool but it was freezing cold and I couldn’t really play properly because other people were in the pool too and that wasn’t very fun.

I will take some pictures of our room and add them here later.

My Holiday – On the plane! (Miss JTFUK)

We are going on holiday today. In a plane. We are going to Madrid and Barcelona. Then we are getting another plane to Milan, then a train to Venice, then Siena, then Rome, then Tuscany. A little tour of Italy! So far this morning, I have been woken up by my singing Daddy, then I went in to my brother’s room and I woke him up. Then he said ‘go away!’ but then he realised we were going on holiday so he smiled and got up.

Then we went in a taxi to the airport. It was fun. We went to No.1 lounge at the airport. I liked the food. I wish they toasted the muffins though. I did get some yummy hot chocolate and some tasty apple juice. Next time I’m going to get a waffle like my brother did because his waffle was yummier than my muffin.

Then we got on the plane.  Here is a photo:

I felt like a little nap so I snuggled into Mummy and had a sleep. Mummy thinks it’s really funny that I always sit beside her on planes and sleep. My brother sits beside Daddy and is always wide awake! Then when we swap on the way back my brother goes to sleep because he is tired from the holiday and I sit beside Daddy and chat. Mummy says it’s ‘entertaining’….

My Holiday – On the plane! (Mr JTFUK)

This morning, I got woken up by my sister jumping on my head!  I got such a fright that I nearly had a heart attack!!!  It was very early (04:00) and Daddy had woken her up because we were going on HOLIDAY!!!  We are going to Madrid and Barcelona in Spain and lots of places in Italy.

I got dressed in my shorts and sandals and my cool shark top with braces on the sharks teeth.  Do you like it?

My cool shark t-shirt

After we were all dressed, we got picked up and taken to the airport by a man called Colin who had a cool car.

A BBQ!

On Saturday we went to buy some food for the BBQ.  Our friend Neil was invited to come because the day after he was going on holiday and we wouldn’t see him.

When we came back from the shop we put the BBQ on.  The flames were really huge – I nearly got set on fire!  The wind was also blowing wildly.  Then we cooked the food which was delicious.  My sister had an ice lolly and I had an ice cream on a stick with chocolate around it.

We then cooked marshmallows on the BBQ which was really great fun!  I would like to do it again soon.

A night out at a Ceilidh!

Last night I went to ceilidh with my Dad, Mum, Aimee and my great-gran who had told us about it and bought the tickets!

It took a long time for everyone to arrive but a kind and old woman kept giving my sister and I some crisps in a bowl.  When we were walking to the ceilidh hall, it was raining heavily.  There were about 50 people there by the time everyone arrived.

My great gran knew lots of people in the band.  People in the band played an Accordion, some drums and the violin.  There were some huge speakers too which made everything sound a bit louder!
